Word by word meaning

उत्सन्न – destroyed; कुल-धर्माणां – family traditions; मनुष्याणां -  of those people; जनार्दन -  O Janardhana; नरके – in hell; अनियतं -  indefinite; वासः -  dwell; भवति -  be; इति -  thus; अनुशुश्रुम -  have heard;

Meaning:

We have heard that the people whose family traditions are destroyed will dwell in hell for indefinite period.

Significance:

In the next couple of verses, arjuna’s ‘Moha’ is indicated. This war is due to the greediness of Duryodhana and Dhritharashtra. Arjuna here conveys, the people who destroy the race and its traditions, will dwell in hell , will suffer indefinitely; and he is not ready to be a part of this sin. Delusion of Arjuna here makes him think that if he is not a part of this war, he might not be a part of the destruction and sin.
