Gita Dhyanam - गीता ध्यानम्

 

ॐपार्थाय प्रतिबोधितां भगवता नारायणेन स्वयं

व्यासेन ग्रथितां पुराणमुनिना मध्ये महाभारतम् ।

अद्वैतामृतवर्षिणीं भगवतीम् अष्टादशाध्यायिनीम्

अम्ब त्वामनुसन्दधामि भगवद्गीते भवद्वेषिणीम् ॥ १॥

pārthāya pratibodhitām bhagavatā  nārāyaṇena svayam

vyāsena grathitām purāṇamuninā madhye mahābhāratam.

advaitāmrutavarṣhiṇīm bhagavatīm aṣhṭādhashādhyayinīm

amba tvāmanusandadhāmi bhagavadgīte bhavadveṣhiṇīm..

Meaning:          

 Om, O Bhagavad Gita, which was imparted to Partha (Arjuna) by the Lord Narayana himself , which is within the Mahabharatam, written by the ancient sage Vyasa ; I Meditate on you who   - showers the nectar of Advaita, is the Principal Goddesses , is in the form  of 18 chapters, is the Divine Mother , is the destroyer of rebirth (1)

Significance of the verse :

The very first verse of Gitadhyanam is salutation to the very Gita itself, Gita Namaskaram . In our tradition women are given utmost importance and are held very high. Mother land, rivers are named with women names. Here too we Salute Gita as our Mother, Supreme Goddess. A mother takes care of physical , mental and emotional needs of her kids very well. She nourishes them with right food at right time. She makes sure her kids are shown the right path. She shapes their outer and inner personality. Likewise, Mother Gita too gives us what we need at the right time, nourishes us with values, develops our personality and helps us to lead the right path
